In 2006 Detective Pete Swartz was assigned to the Federal Bureau of Investigation's - Northwest Ohio Violent Crimes Against Children Task Force where he investigates sex trafficking matters, specializing in domestic minor sex trafficking investigations. Detective Swartz instructs at the Ohio Police Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) and has taught sex trafficking investigation courses at The Toledo Police Academy as well as throughout the state of Ohio. He is a member of the Ohio Attorney Generals Human Trafficking Commission and the Lucas County Human Trafficking Coalition. Detective Swartz was the 2013 recipient of the Paladin Award and in 2014 the Ohio Liberator Award for his work combating sex trafficking.
