Joy Washburn is an Associate Professor of Nursing at Grand Valley State University and a member of HEAL Trafficking. She believes knowledge of human trafficking is an issue of importance in healthcare education. Assisted by C. Forslund, R. Perkins, and C. Bartman, her perseverance was instrumental in developing a clinical simulation in which the patient is a victim of human trafficking. Annually, 200+ students in the BSN program at GVSU participate in this clinical simulation experience.
